WELCOME TO CIVILISATION

Welcome to civilisation
I’d be happy to show you around
If you come with me
There’s so much to see
Exhibits and ruins that will astound

Here at civilisation
We know a thing or two
From history’s dawning
Right up to this morning
So many stories that I could tell you

The Lascaux caves to Babylon
Franz Ferdinand to QAnon
And everything that came between
What a strange trip it has been

Here’s the World Fair in Chicago
Every other gaslit expo
It’s a rollercoaster ride
So buckle up and hold on tight

There’s John Locke
Concocting slop
His recipe for gruel
For workhouse orphans left by witches
Burnt for winter fuel

Amritsa to Wounded Knee
Exxon Valdez to the sea
Takes hard work by just a few
To make the earth a toxic brew

So that was civilisation
At least you could say that we tried
But who’d have thought
That civilisation
Would be so uncivilised
